Scientific background

There is positive correlation between the time available for aiming and the probability of a successful shot. This has been proven by scientific experiments. S.K. Harle / J.N. Vickes: Training Quiet Eye in The Sport Psichologist 15 (2001), 3, 289-305. The Gameshot Method relies on the above statement but applies it the other way around: If a player has far shorter time for aiming during the training, he will have longer time for aiming than he is used to during the game, hence a higher chances for a successful shot.
